The week was totally uneventful! The weather has been beautiful and I’ve been taking advantage of it by sitting out on the back deck and reading.

This month I am planning out a small TBR list and trying my very best to stick to that plan. I am not worrying about challenges or literally anything else. I am reading what I want to read and that’s gonna be that!

With the banning of Tiktok alomst upon us, I have been trying to post more on my Instagram page. And I am using the Stories more lol! Follow me there if you haven’t already.

Okay so I don’t know WHAT my problem is this year, but I am DNFing books like it’s going out of style! This year I have DNFed 13 books… THIRTEEN! The books were either stupid characters who grated on my nerves or it didn’t hold my interest enough to want to get to the end of the story.

I HAVE been consistently reading, so that is a plus. I am taking some random advice I saw on TikTok and for every heavy/thriller book I read I am going to read a lighter book… so I don’t burn out or get into a reading slump. My overall reading this year has been just alright…. no great five star reads, and not many four reads. I think it’s because I was reading books for CHALLENGES and not FOR MYSELF.

I have been keeping up with my Netgalley’s really well, but then Novel Suspects and SMP Influencers sent me a ton of ARCs so now my percentage has tanked. I am also gung-ho on using my library for the books I want to read (and that will never change) but then a lot of my library holds were available via Libby… thank goodness they made the “borrow at a later date” part or I would of been up a creek without a paddle haha!

With the possible banning of Tiktok, I have been trying to post more on my Instagram page. And I am using the Stories more lol! Follow me there if you haven’t already.

The week before we were on Spring Break, so this week was full of working hard at work, and extra curricular school activities. I did hang out with my bestie Thursday night so that’s always a good time!

I am still sticking to this April plan: focus on Netgalley ARCs and other ARCs I’ve received, the physical books I borrowed from the library, and my specific TBR list I made a Google sheet for #nerdalert

My daughter and I had the week off of school/work for Spring Break. My husband always takes the week off with us so we can go do family stuff. We went to visit two colleges (my daughter is a junior in high school) and we did a day trip to Lancaster, PA. The other days were spent relaxing around the house watching tv, doing puzzles and reading.

Another busy week complete! It’s the week before spring break so work has been chaotic and wild. I DID get a new lateral position within my job (to start once we’re back from spring break) and I am actually super excited about it!

I have decided that I have to cut back on a few of the challenges I am participating in. I feel like it’s messed up my reading this entire month. I also decided to READ the books I WANT to read and to stop stressing about reading. I read and listened to way less books than I would in a typical month. No five star reads this year either.

New plan for April: focus on Netgalley ARCs, other ARCs I’ve received, the physical books I borrowed from the library, and my specific TBR list I made a Google sheet for #nerdalert

It has been a crazy week in this household. The husband had to work late Tuesday night, a soccer meeting Wednesday night, bowling Thursday night, a work event Friday night, and an all day work event Saturday. The daughter had school (of course), her after school activities and her extra curricular activities. I had work (of course lol), typical errands, and getting everyone where they needed to be and all of that. Plus housework and laundry. By the end of the night I was flat out exhausted and falling asleep early. The daughter, my niece and I also volunteered at my husband’s work event Saturday, and it was a lot of fun!

My niece and daughter

Today we have ZERO PLANS and it feels amazing!

Audiboooks are NOT holding my interest, which is absolutely new to me! I normally have an audiobook on in the car driving, while doing housework, while playing video games, while in the shower… like all the time. The other day I could not bring myself to even turn on the app to listen- it’s just wild! I am reading an ebook before I go to bed, but not any other time of the day… because I don’t feel like it. Like a blahish mood. I think it’s stemming from participating in way too many yearly challenges. I’m trying to pick books that fit into the categories instead of just reading whatever I want to read, and I think it’s messing with my reading vibe. I’m gonna try to power through, but if it doesn’t change soon, then I’m revamping my entire plan going forward from April.

My son was home for Spring Break this past week. It rained every single day he was home except for Friday, which was sunny and cold. The weekend was spent playing multiple board games and watching movies, as we were stuck indoors.

We are taking him home this afternoon. Daylight Savings is the devil and it should be abolished at this point.

I am not in a reading slump, but I am definitely in my MOOD phase. I am reading, but don’t know what I WANT to read. I normally have an audiobook going anytime I am doing something, like driving, chores or video games… but lately I sometimes don’t have it running. I am reading an ebook before I go to bed, but not any other time of the day… because I don’t feel like it.

You know when you feel bored but don’t know what to do… it feels like that.

I lurk on Instagram, but am trying to post more frequently. I do post on my Story when the mood strikes, and am trying to post when I have a blog post scheduled. Find me on Instagram if you haven’t already.

Sunday was the last day my parents were here before they went home to NC. My husband left to check in to the hotel for his work conference that afternoon. The parents, daughter and I went out to dinner, followed by running a few small errands around town, then we played board games at nighttime.

The rest of the week consisted of going to work (boring!), picking up my daughter from her after school activities, lots of laundry, straightening up the house, video games, a few episodes of a TV show and reading before bed.

The start of a new month so a start of a different TBR stack! I don’t have too many books specifically planned out for this month. I honestly think I am doing too many challenges to keep up with, so I am stressing out!

It’s been a wild week!

Monday was a holiday and we mostly hung around…. but we had a wake to go to that evening for our good friend whose mother in law suddenly passed away.

Tuesday my husband had off of work to tackle some doctor appointments, and I went to work. Then after dinner I helped my husband down at the soccer clubhouse organizing things for the upcoming season. We were there longer than we had planned so when we got back home I went straight to bed!

Wednesday my husband had off of work again for more appointments and after he was all done with those he went grocery shopping while I was at work. At night he had a soccer board meeting so my daughter and I just relaxed at the house.

Thursday my parents came up from NC because they had a wedding to go to on Saturday. The husband was bowling that night so it was a low key evening. I absolutely fell asleep at 6:10pm and slept all night because I am a lunatic!

Friday the husband was working late for a work event. My husband’s aunt and cousin arrived in NJ because they were going on a cruise on Sunday and instead of paying for a hotel as they wanted to bunk with us. It was a FULL HOUSE here, let me tell you!

Saturday my daughter went to her high school’s esports championship (she wasn’t playing, she went to support her classmates), my parents went to the wedding in the afternoon, and I had to work an event at the high school (the winter formal). My husband hung out with his aunt and cousin all day lol.

Today my husband drove his aunt and cousin to the port for their cruise, then turned around and went to his work conference. My daughter and I stayed at the house and hung out with my parents. FINALLY a day to relax!

I’ve been flying through audiobooks, but the last two have been complete duds! I decided to go with a safe, favorite author, catch up on a series listen. The book is called Obsessed by James Patterson and James O. Born, the 15th book in the Michael Bennett series.

I just finished A Friend In The Dark and really liked it!

Not a whole lot went on this week… just Valentine’s Day in the middle of the week. It was low key as usual. The husband picks up a heart shaped pizza from our local pizzeria and we sat at home and eat it. Then we vegged on the couch till we fell asleep. Being married almost twenty years is so exciting am I right? HAHA!!!!!

The daughter and I will be playing Palia and watching Black Butler together today, as the boys are at a hockey game all day.

I am listening to a Kiersten Modglin audiobook thanks to Netgalley and decided to read my February Amazon First Reads choice, A Friend In The Dark by Samantha M. Bailey, because I saw a few people that I follow on Instagram were reading it and that they were really liking the book.
